Sussex Coast Ministry Training Course
“This is a brilliant biblically based course that will help equip you for ministry in the local church. It is fun, challenging and very practical, and a great way to learn to use the Bible in different types of ministry - with the young/old, etc. As one of the course lecturers I warmly, and without hesitation, recommend it. It could make a difference to your life and usefulness.” Wallace Benn, Bishop of Lewes

About The Course
"I charge you in the presence of God and Christ Jesus..... preach the word" When the Bible is taught, God's voice is heard. From pulpit to house group, with young or old, there is a need for teachers who 'rightly handle' the word of truth in the power of the Spirit. Like many other regional courses throughout the UK, the Sussex Coast Ministry Training Course (SCMTC) was inspired by the model of the Cornhill Training Course in London, and strives to better equip people from all walks of life, who seek to teach God's word in a variety of contexts.
The Course Consists Of The Following Units:
Biblical Theology - Year 1
An overview of the whole Bible, often the first session each week across all three terms. This unit helps us to understand the story of the Bible, and how God's promises are fulfilled in Jesus Christ.Systematic Theology (Doctrine) – Year 2
Students will have the opportunity to study Christian doctrine in some depth using Wayne Grudem’s Systematic Theology textbook. This will be done in groups where each student will be asked to lead a seminar on a particular topic.Exposition – Year 1 and 2
We consider several Bible books in greater detail and seek to understand how best to teach individual passages of scripture within the appropriate context.Practical Ministry – Year 1 and 2
Visiting lecturers bring their own expertise on a range of practical aspects of ministry. From reading one to one to pastoring the divorced. This unit helps us to apply our learning in the real life situations of Christian ministry.Hands-on Training – Year 1 and 2
